Donations & Charitable Giving
Grandma would call it a “mitzvah:” sometimes the best way to repurpose your treasure is to donate it. However, once you’ve decided to give away your precious inheritance, it’s not necessarily an easy or automated process. We can help you place an important collection by first identifying a 501(c)(3)-qualified charity willing to accept such a gift, and we meet stringent IRS qualifications for assisting you in the subsequent completion of necessary Form 8283, “Noncash Charitable Contributions,” which taxpayers are obligated to complete for deducting the value of property donations valued in excess of $500.

We have helped place material with institutions such as Yale University’s Pratt Gallery of Numismatics, the American Numismatic Association’s Money Museum in Colorado Springs, and various historical societies. We offer this as a complementary service for clients when they entrust us with the sale of large collections and have leftover material they wish to donate; and we have also performed formal appraisals of large museum-quality collections, important in their own right.
Sometimes clients just ask us to find a small coin club in need of material at the local level, on a more informal basis. Getting top dollar for your Barber Quarter set, that’s valuable; getting a kid off their cell phone and gaming console, that’s priceless!
Contact us if you wish to pursue leaving such a legacy. What better way to share your collection with future generations!
