Well here are the possibilities... it could have been minted in 776... the 1 could have worn off in post-mint damage (likliest explanation)... it could be an obstruction of the die, perhaps filled with grease or other foreign matter. It's not a dramatic error, if it even is one, so personally I'd spend this. You might want to read our tutorial where we talk about the value of common coins and errors.
