Somebody flattened out the edge by banging it. This is not any kind of mint error. I was told bored servicemen did this by tapping spoons on coins on the ship, and these are called "tappers." Or it might be the first step in making the coin into jewelry. Regardless, it's not got much value as a coin; it has twelve bucks of silver though.
I have a 1966 Kennedy silver half dollar I believe to be an error coin. I don't know what type of error coin it is and am curious to find out if it is worth anything. I provided some pictures and put another Kennedy half dollar in the picture for reference to show its not as wide and the edge is thicker.
