Third-party commercial companies plate common coins and sell them at a premium. But upon resale they have no real value much beyond their face value, it's just a novelty.

2006 South Dakota quarter that is silver and gold. . On the front of the quarter it seems as though the gold is messed up at the top of the quarter. I could not find another one like this.
