I found one just like it today. It was struck really hard all right, AFTER it left the mint. See my prior posting on "tappers."

The dime seems to have been struck really hard as the rim has a deeper edge than normally. There are no ridges around the outer edge its perfectly smoothe. It has strange feel to it.
