We get this question often. It's a "tapper." Someone banged on it repeatedly with a spoon or something, bored sailors did this in WWII and we see them from that era, often done with silver coins. It's not an "error" because it has nothing to do with the minting process.

1975 looks like an error. The it's like a railroad penny but I've never seen one like this and I can't find another one. The 3rd picture is it standing next to a regular penny from that year. Is this a rare error coin?
