The "S" is for San Francisco, where it was minted. More commonly they are worth $75-150. Except in cases like yours, where they are counterfeit. Sorry!

1875 U.S. Trade Dollar, 420 grain 900 fine, Pretty good condition, no major damage damage spots, detail still fair, edges not too bad, dies have the " S" mark on for series. I know they go from 100- thousands. I am starting to get an appraisal to see if it is worth selling or waiting longer to gain value.
