It's more like you were noticing minor things in ordinary coins. The fact that you're finding many should suggest to you it's just change.

1978 quarter double die both sides. Many errors. I've been finding many coins like this in my pocket change in the last couple of weeks. It's like someone is spending a coin collection in my small town.
