I don't know what was done to this coin, but it almost certainly happened after release to circulation and contributes no value. I don't know why do many 1972 cents are struck just a tiny amount off-center, often we see them 1-2 percent off. Whatever the reason, so many ended up that way, it remains just a cent. Keep hunting!
