Myke, we see wear and possibly damage to a weak planchet that developed a crack. But those are things that usually detract from the value of a coin.

Hello sir, here is a nickel I recently got that looks like there is something wrong with the left side of the steps. If you look at the picture with the 2 nickels In it, you should be able to notice what is different about one of the nickels. Hopefully it shows easily.
