It's a medal commemorating Yuri Gagarin, in multiple languages, who was indeed the first astronaut in orbit. Though the Russians indeed won the first round of the space race, we overtook them when it came to landing on the moon. There are many different compositions of similar medals selling for about five dollars on the Internet.
