Maybe that's because it's not an error. It's been damaged or altered. With the "D" mint mark on the obverse it must be after 1964. Looks to me like 1968. Regardless, collectors want to know the date of their coin, so if it's so compromised they you can't read it, your best bet is to spend it. Even if it's in a holder that cost more than a dime.

I have this dime and I can not tell what the date is on it. But if you look under the last number in the date you can clearly see what seems to be an. 8. I have tried to look up these coin but I cannot find anything on it I've looked for dime errors 1960 1968 1969 and can't find any known errors
