You seem to have identified it properly. We in the coin community are not fond of coins that have been melted, or have cheese-like substances melted on them. Back in 1897, this coin would have bought you that cheese sandwich. Now, with inflation, it's barely worth a nickel.

I tried uploading more photos but it wouldn't let me. This is a 1897 V cent. It has got melted onto it and also stamped. It also looks as if it was stamped with another coins stamp.
