It might have been subjected to acid corrosion. I’m confident it’s common.

I hate to send you another 40s wheat penny appraisal request, but this one is slightly unusual and I am not able to find anything by searching online.
The thing that seems a bit odd is that it is noticeably thinner and a slightly smaller diameter than other 1944 pennies I have. As you can see in the photo, the patina/color is different than the other 44 pennies I have.
In regards to the edges, I know people could use extremely find sandpaper, but I do not see any mark
