Hello! I have a collection of coins and paper money... i am wondering if the coins have any value beyond a melt value? Or if the coins and paper currency could be worth something more. The $1 bills(9 of them) are dated 1935, $2 are 1928 and 1953, $5 is 1934, $10 is 1934. The coins are in good condition except the 1873 and 1874 $1 gold coins both have marks across the back. I live in Poughkeepsie, and look forward to hearing from you! Thank You! Karen

Karen, these smaller gold coins do have some value beyond melt value. I can't speak for every dealer, but I am willing to pay at least full "spot" on the more popular U.S. coins. The British sovereigns are a little less percentage wise but not far off. You've got at least a couple grand of value in total here. The notes are common but it all adds up. Don't clean anything. Most of my calls come from your region, are you ever passing through the Lower Hudson Valley? I'd love to evaluate them in person and make an offer. Marc
