Hi Mary, I had a tip we'd be hearing from you! Are those glasses? Are they metal? In order for it to have significant value, it needs to be true silver, e.g., marked .925 or Sterling; or with British hallmarks. The knife blades may be stainless and count for less. When you say "10 pounds," I assume you mean Avoirdupois, like on a bathroom scale, not troy. The minimum scrap value should be at least a couple thousand dollars; how much more depends on the condition, attribution, and exact nature of what you have. Some patterns have a premium, but most do not. I recommend you find a time to bring it in to show us in our Hastings office! --Marc, 649-3317 (Area code 914). P.S., Gold is high, any gold jewelry will sweeten the pot for you.
